All my other roommates have gone out, but I have work in the morning (and truth be told, I don't really like my roommates that much), so I'm just sitting on the couch, drinking beer, and enjoying my own company. Plus I just enjoyed watching the Cards win (I'm originally from St. Louis). So have a beer on me, and enjoy this FFR '33 Hot rod. I think I'd enjoy owning a Coyote powered one some day.

Same here. I've got a smooth glass of bourbon, some Rolling Stones, some nice earl grey (a stimulant brewed black and frothy, as God intended it) a smooth wood desk and a keyboard to write with and no one around/awake within about 50 feet of me.

I believe that is a 3l L24 Rebello Racing motor with ITBs. They rev to about 9000 and make around 300HP, and sound like a jet fighter.

That's a sweet looking motor. What car is it all wrapped up in?

Not the same car, but:

They're sweet... but they cost between $10,000 and $30,000 depending on the package. Somehow, Rebello can make a single-cam non-crossflow L24 (bored and stroked to 3.2 liters) get 350-400HP on race fuel. I don't know how they do it, but that company is the king of N/A L engine tuning. I've lusted after them for a year or so, but they're a niche item for Nostalgia-freaks who want the stock motor, no turbo, but more HP and have tons of cash to make sure everything sounds perfect.

The latest petrolicious video featured a car with one of their motors in it:

That's a lot of coin for an engine, but it sounds pretty remarkable. And yea, as you said, you can make that kind of power for much cheaper, but hey, to each their own!

So clutch in the postseason. His throw to home was gorgeous. Man has a cannon for an arm.

Basically, the less "pure" the engine is, the cheaper the power gets. In descending purity and ascending HP/$: OS Giken DOHC motor, Rebello (or any similarly built stroker), Turbo L28, RB26DETT, SR20DET, 2JZ-GTE, VK45DE, Chevy Small Block, Ford Small Block, Any Big Block.

The OS Giken motors cost around $50000 and get 300-400HP.
The Rebellos cost around $30000 and get 300-350HP
The Turbo L28s can cost between 5000 and 10000, and get 200-400 HP respectively
The RB26DETT costs between 10000 and 30000 and gets 300-600HP
The SR20DET costs between 4000 and 6000 and gets 250-450HP
The 2JZ costs between 7000 and 12000 and gets 300-500HP (with potential for more)
The VK costs between 7000 and 12000 and gets 350-500HP
SBC costs between 3000 and 5000 and gets 300-400HP
Ford Small block is between 2000 and 4000 and gets 250-350HP
And most big blocks cost between 3000 and 10000 and get anywhere from 350-800HP.

And yes, I have seen all of these swaps done before.

Nice! I'd love to hear more about all that some time. I've mostly just worked with American stuff. The machine shop I worked at did either muscle car engine builds (worked on my fair share of Mopar hemis, Ford 427s, anything Chevy, etc), but also did some work for the Toyota dealerships and what not. That said, I don't know much about engines outside of old American pushrod V8s.

My "poster" car was a '67 mustang with a 302. I then dived into the Mopar deep end as a child, until my father picked up a dirt-cheap 280ZX and started toying around with it (at that time I didn't know he was even interested in cars). Something got impressed on me (something about hard-90 degree right hand turns at 60mph) and I haven't stopped lusting for Z's since. My heart still belongs to old muscle though, and I am still a huge Ford and Mopar fan.

He now has a few mid-70s Corvettes he's working on, but they're just toys to him. His favorite car (I've mentioned it on Oppo a few times, so forgive me if you've heard the story before) was a 1970 Dodge Challenger with a 413 Wedge from a Chrysler Crown Imperial Limousine. It made 850HP at the crank on nitromethane, and it's taken me a while to crack it, but given the specifications he's given me over the years (when he does talk about it) I have no doubt that it made that kind of power.
